For example, researchers have shown that a fungus of the type "Pestalotiopsis Microspora" is a species of endophytic fungi capable of decomposing and digesting polyurethane in an anaerobic environment. Chinese researchers have also recently detected a new type of fungus, Aspergillus tubingensis, which also destroys polyurethane.
